The first thing that probably comes to mind when you read the title of this post is "There's 50 places to hike in Louisiana?"
The answer is Yes, and more!
I first began hiking as a regular activity about 4 years ago. At first I was only able to find bits and pieces of information about trails on a few forestry websites. It wasn't until I stumbled upon a book about popular hikes in Arkansas that I searched to see if there was one about hikes in Louisiana. And there it was! "50 Hikes in Louisiana"!
It was like opening up someones journal that had been hiking in Louisiana their entire life. The detailed descriptions of each trail is what makes this such a valuable resource to me. I have used those details to plan many a hiking trip and they have always been accurate. It also includes (for each trail) milage, maps, and photos that give you even more details. Anyone who is interested in hiking in Louisiana really needs to have this book as a reference.
About the author "Janina Baxley, a lifelong Louisianian, has hiked extensively throughout the state, as well as Virginia, Mississippi, Alabama, and the lengths of the Appalachian and Vermont's Long Trails. A former resident of Plaquemine, in Iberville Parish, Janina is now living, and hiking, in North Carolina."
