Backbone Trail
The most scenic 7 miles of trail in Louisiana! Rugged and beautiful, this 7.5 mile one way trail is good for a dayhike/backpacking trip. Combine this with a 2 mile road walk and you can do a loop back to your car. The Longleaf Scenic Byway is a decent road to walk. Established camping along the way plus dispersed camping is allowed. Please keep this wilderness area clean and Leave No Trace
7.5 mile one-way trail is rated as moderate and is good for kids and dogs. Pets must be on a leash at all times and please pick up after them. Bring bug spray and water!
