Longleaf Vista Nature Trail

Arguably the most scenic hike in Louisiana, the 1.2 mile Longleaf Vista Trail Nature Trail is located in the Kisatchie National Forest, just NW of Alexandria.

The trailhead is at the Longleaf Vista Recreation Area and is suitable for most hikers, including kids. It is a fairly easy hike with a few ups and downs through mostly pine forest.

The main attraction for me is a couple of Buttes that offer views of the Kisatchie Hills Wilderness. Bayou Cypre is the main water feature on this trail that has some unique rock formations, causing a small waterfall during wet months.

A great day hike, and the recreation area offers plenty of spaces for a picnic after your finished conquering these hills!
